There is a grey area between Physiotherapy and Pilates.
A Physiotherapist releases a patient if their pain is a 3/10 or lower. The Moving out of Pain workshop moves into the clinical field of Pilates, to help patients transition into becoming Pilates clients.
With breath alone, we as teachers will be able to identify where the nearly dissolved pain is centered in the body. With breath and myofascial trigger point releases, we will take the body out of fight and flight mode, so the mind can respond correctly to the instruction it receives from instructors. Once the body is out of fight or flight, we need to create new neural pathways (or just remind the brain of the correct patterns of how to recruit the correct muscles) and in which order. We then work through the prescribed mat-based exercises from the physiotherapists, teach the body what the natural range of motions are for the injured area and incorporate the Pilates principles to the exercises.
